Corporate event venues in Dubai, with prices

Ask a Dubai hotel what a function room costs and you will usually be told a minimum spend rather than a price. Ask a desert camp and you will be told a per-person rate that turns out to exclude transport. Neither figure is comparable to the other, which is why venue shortlists in this market so often come down to whoever answered the email fastest.

The only number worth comparing is all-in per person: space, food, staffing, transfer and coordination, at your actual group size. That is how the prices below are stated. All exclude 5% VAT.

The eleven venue types, priced

1. Your own office

The cheapest venue in the UAE, and the most underused. An awards evening in your own atrium runs AED 390 a person at 40–79 people, AED 340 at 80–149 and AED 300 at 150 or more — three and a half hours, catering and AV included. A National Day event in the same space is AED 450 at 50–99, AED 390 at 100–199, AED 350 at 200 or more. A full-day onboarding or alignment session delivered on your premises is AED 660 at 12–19, AED 590 at 20–34 and AED 530 at 35 or more.

What you give up is neutrality. For a celebration that does not matter. For a difficult conversation it matters a great deal, which is the whole reason the next category exists.

2. Hotel meeting suite

Four-star conference floor, main room plus breakouts, deliberately off your own premises. A facilitated full day runs AED 890 a person at 12–19, AED 740 at 20–39 and AED 650 at 40 or more. A high-intensity format with three breakout rooms and a written scenario runs AED 1,450 at 15–24, AED 1,250 at 25–39 and AED 1,120 at 40 or more.

You are not buying a room here. You are buying the fact that nobody can slip back to their desk between sessions.

3. Hotel ballroom

For a ceremony above about 80 people. AED 860 a person at 80–149, AED 700 at 150–299 and AED 620 at 300 or more, five hours, with staging, AV and dinner. December dates need 90 days’ lead time and are gone by September.

4. Private venue buyout — Al Quoz or Business Bay

An independent space taken exclusively for a half day, which is the format for a working session that should not feel like a hotel. AED 530 at 16–29, AED 470 at 30–47 and AED 420 at 48 or more, four and a half hours, fully indoor.

5. Private farmhouse, Northern Emirates

Exclusive use of a farm in Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain or Ras Al Khaimah — nobody else on site. An evening runs AED 420 a person at 20–29, AED 360 at 30–49 and AED 320 at 50 or more, six hours door to door from Dubai including the coach. A full day with a working session inside it is AED 980 at 15–19, AED 870 at 20–34 and AED 780 at 35 or more. An overnight is AED 1,170 at 20–29 and AED 1,070 at 30–40.

This is the best value per person available to a Dubai company, and the reason is simply that the land is an hour further north. Team building in Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah covers the supply properly.

6. Desert camp, exclusive buyout

Your company alone on a licensed site, not a shared commercial camp. AED 780 a person at 40–59, AED 580 at 60–99 and AED 460 at 100 or more, six hours, October to April. Overnight under canvas is AED 1,750 at 20–29, AED 1,600 at 30–49 and AED 1,450 at 50 or more.

7. Chartered boat

A whole vessel, not seats on someone else’s. A traditional dhow in Dubai Marina is AED 620 a person at 10–29, AED 520 at 30–59 and AED 450 at 60 or more. The Creek heritage version is AED 330 at 15–29, AED 270 at 30–59 and AED 240 at 60 or more — the cheapest floating venue in the city. A private yacht for a board is AED 3,200 at 8–11, AED 2,700 at 12–19 and AED 2,400 at 20–25. October to May only.

8. Sports complex, park or school grounds

For 50 to 300 people with a scoreboard. AED 620 a person at 50–99, AED 480 at 100–199 and AED 400 at 200 or more, six hours, October to April. For a family day on a park or resort lawn, AED 380 at 100–199 attendees, AED 330 at 200–399 and AED 290 above 400 — and note that the count is attendees rather than employees.

9. Attraction buyout

An air-conditioned theme park section runs AED 520 a person at 15–29, AED 450 at 30–59 and AED 410 at 60 or more. Yas Island is AED 650 / AED 570 / AED 520 across the same bands. A waterpark day is AED 680 / AED 600 / AED 550. Ski Dubai is AED 560 at 15–29, AED 490 at 30–59 and AED 450 at 60 or more and runs year-round, which in August is worth more than it looks.

10. Specialist facility — kitchen, court, circuit

A cooking studio or hotel training kitchen is AED 510 a person at 20–29 and AED 430 at 30–59. An indoor cricket facility is AED 440 at 24–39, AED 380 at 40–69 and AED 340 at 70 or more. An indoor padel centre is AED 490 at 16–23, AED 420 at 24–47 and AED 370 at 48 or more. A karting circuit is AED 680 / AED 570 / AED 520. All air-conditioned, all year-round.

11. Esports and VR venue

Private buyout, several titles running simultaneously. AED 690 a person at 20–29, AED 620 at 30–49 and AED 560 at 50 or more, four hours.

Five things to establish before you compare two venues

Is the quote a minimum spend or a room hire? These are different commitments. A minimum spend you fail to meet is still payable in full.

Is service charge and municipality fee inside the number? In Dubai it frequently is not, and the gap between an inclusive and an exclusive quote is not small.

Who holds the permissions? Inside a licensed venue, the venue does. Outdoors, on leased land, with temporary structures, or with a run route, you do — and that is a lead-time question, not a paperwork question. A family day carries a 35-day floor because of civil defence clearance, and a road race carries 35 days because of the permit and marshalling.

What is the wet-weather or heat fallback, and what triggers it? A fallback with no stated trigger is not a fallback. Ask what condition moves the event, who decides, and by when you would be told.

What happens to the price if six people drop out? Every venue has a group size below which its economics stop working. Ask for the minimum chargeable number in writing before you sign, not after somebody resigns in week three.

Choosing, in one paragraph

If the event is a celebration for under 150 people and you have an atrium, use it. If it is a working session, leave the building and take a hotel suite. If it is a reward and the month is between October and April, the farmhouse or the boat gives you more per dirham than anything in Dubai. If the month is between May and September, the answer is indoors and air-conditioned, and the indoor list is where to start.
