Why the best-value corporate offsites in the UAE are an hour north of Dubai — the farmhouses, the mountain, and what a day in RAK, Sharjah or UAQ actually costs.
The best-value corporate offsites in the UAE are not in Dubai. They are 60 to 90 minutes north of it, in Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, and most companies never look there because nobody has ever aggregated what is available.
Why the north is cheaper, and why that is not a catch
There are 40 to 60 credible private farmhouses across the Northern Emirates. They are family-owned, they fill on Fridays and Saturdays with family gatherings, and they are almost entirely empty from Sunday to Thursday — which is exactly when a company wants them.
That is the whole arbitrage. You are not buying a worse venue at a discount. You are buying a good venue on the day nobody else wants it, which is the day your event happens anyway.
What that gets you, concretely: exclusive use. Not a function room inside a hotel that also has three other events on. The entire property, with nobody else on it, at a price that in Dubai buys a partitioned ballroom.
What a private farmhouse day actually is
A walled property with lawns, a majlis, usually a pool, a barbecue area and shade. You arrive, it is yours, and it stays yours until you leave. There is no other group, no shared corridor, no adjacent wedding.
For a company of 30 people, that changes the behaviour of the day more than any activity does. People spread out. Conversations happen in twos and threes at the edges instead of in a circle of chairs. Nobody is performing for strangers.
The full-day retreat. Eleven hours door to door in Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain or Fujairah, with the property matched to your group size and date. AED 700 per person at 15–29, AED 580 at 30–59, AED 520 at 60+, excluding VAT. October to April.
An evening at a private farm. Six hours — majlis, fire, food, no agenda. The cheapest exclusive-use option we run: AED 420 at 20–29, AED 360 at 30–49, AED 320 at 50+.
A working retreat. The same setting with a genuine working session inside it, for 15 to 40 people: AED 980 at 15–19, AED 870 at 20–34, AED 780 at 35+. The environment supplies the informality, so the facilitator does not have to manufacture it.
An overnight at the farm. Twenty-four hours, 20 to 40 people: AED 1,170 at 20–29, AED 1,070 at 30–40. If the reason for the offsite is a conversation that has been avoided for a year, book the night.
Farm to table. A working produce farm in Al Ain or Sharjah with kitchen facilities — pick it, cook it, eat it. Eight hours, 15 to 50 people: AED 500 at 15–29, AED 440 at 30–49, AED 400 at 50+.
Jebel Jais
The UAE’s highest mountain, at 1,934 metres, in Ras Al Khaimah. It matters for corporate events for a reason people underrate: it is around ten degrees cooler than the coast, which extends the outdoor season at both ends.
It also does not look like anywhere else in the country. For a team that has done the desert twice and the Marina three times, a mountain day is genuinely a different experience rather than a rearrangement of the same one.

Sharjah runs year-round
Worth separating out, because it is the answer to the summer problem in the north.
Sharjah’s cultural quarter — the Museum of Islamic Civilisation, Arts Square, Heart of Sharjah, Al Noor Island — is largely indoor and runs all year. Seven hours, 15 to 50 people: AED 370 at 15–29, AED 320 at 30–49, AED 290 at 50+. In summer the island leg simply moves to 19:00.
For a genuinely cheap half day that runs year-round, a short Sharjah and Dubai run is AED 290 at 15–29 and AED 240 at 30–59, with the summer version starting at 16:00.
Multi-emirate days
The north is also what makes a circuit possible, because the emirates are close together.
- Dubai, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain in nine hours: AED 450 at 15–29, AED 380 at 30–59.
- Sharjah’s Mleiha and Umm Al Quwain in eleven hours: AED 590 at 15–29, AED 500 at 30–59.
- Four emirates in one day, 14.5 hours: AED 530 at 15–29, AED 440 at 30–59. Long, and people talk about it for a year.
The honest limitations
The drive. RAK is 75 to 90 minutes from central Dubai without traffic. On a full day that is acceptable — three hours of a twelve-hour day. On a half day it is not, and no price makes it so.
Coach logistics matter more here. One coach late in Dubai is an inconvenience. One coach late to a farm in UAQ is a group standing on a road. Confirm the operator, not just the booking.
Farmhouse quality varies enormously. They are family properties, not hotels. The difference between a good one and a poor one is not visible in photographs. This is the single reason to use somebody who has physically stood in the venue rather than booking from a listing.
Summer closes it. May to September, ground-level outdoor programmes in the north are not a real option. Move to Sharjah’s indoor cultural route, or run something in Dubai and come back in November.
