Why this is not the retail version
The comparison is our own I-02 Iftar Together at AED 440 — the corporate iftar, and the right package for most companies in most years. This exists because an iftar and a suhoor are different events that happen to fall in the same month.
At an iftar, everybody has been fasting for fourteen hours. The first forty minutes are people eating, and the room does not talk properly until the plates go. It is a good event and it is not a conversational one.
A suhoor at half past ten is the opposite. Nobody is hungry, nobody is in a rush, and the format is built for it — floor seating with no stage, no seating plan and no top table. Two hundred years of majlis design says that a room where everyone sits at the same height talks differently, and that is the entire product.
The practical argument is the calendar. Ramadan working hours end early and the evenings are committed to family and prayer. A company trying to put an event in that month is competing with both. A 22:30 start competes with neither — and for a workforce that is fasting, being asked to do something at eleven at night is considerably more welcome than being asked to do it at six.
Sell both. A company can run an iftar for the whole business and a suhoor for a department in the same Ramadan, and the second is not a substitute for the first.
