Why this is not the retail version

The alternative is what most companies already do: a half-day induction run by HR, a slide deck, a policy handbook and a lunch. It costs almost nothing and it is almost entirely forgotten, because it is delivered by the department a new joiner has least to do with, about the things that matter least on their first week.

The three things this does differently are all structural.

The opening is delivered by a senior leader and it is rehearsed. Twenty minutes on what the company actually does, from someone who decides things. Not a welcome video.

Session three is the whole point. Every function sends a person for six minutes to say who they are and what to come to them for. A new joiner's real problem in month one is not knowing who to ask, and ninety minutes solves more of it than a handbook ever will.

And the buddy framework survives the day. Each joiner leaves with a named buddy who has been written to, and three commitments their manager also receives. The failure of every induction is that nothing happens on day two — this is the part that costs the least and does the most.

It is priced below K-01 The Alignment Day at AED 740 deliberately, because it runs at the client's office with no hotel and a standard facilitator rather than a senior one. This is the volume package in category K — a company hiring steadily buys it every quarter.

The day, minute by minute

Timeline

  1. −10 days Programme design session with HR. What new joiners consistently get wrong is the input
  2. 09:00 Arrival, coffee, welcome kits. Seating is assigned and mixed by department
  3. 09:20 Opening: the company in twenty minutes. Delivered by a senior leader, not by HR, and rehearsed
  4. 09:45 Session one: what we actually do. The product or service, from the customer's side, not the org chart's
  5. 11:00 Break
  6. 11:15 Session two: how work moves. Who decides what, where things get stuck, and the five systems nobody explains
  7. 12:45 Lunch — seated in mixed groups, not free choice
  8. 13:45 Session three: the map. Every function sends someone for six minutes. Names, faces, and what to come to them for
  9. 15:15 Break
  10. 15:30 Session four: your first ninety days. Each joiner leaves with three written commitments and a named buddy
  11. 16:45 Close. Group photograph
  12. +5 days Buddy framework issued to every participant and their manager
