Why this is not the retail version

The retail Musandam day trip is AED 150–200 a person and it is genuinely good value. It is also thirty-five strangers on a shared dhow, a coach that collects from four hotels, and a lunch queue.

Here the boat is the company's for the day. The seating is theirs, the music is theirs, the swim stops happen when they want them, and the lunch is served rather than queued. The border is handled by someone whose job that is, rather than by whoever in the group speaks best Arabic.

The real product is the passport stamp. This is the only package in the catalog under AED 700 that leaves the country. For a team that has done the desert, the dhow and the museums, "we're going to Oman on Tuesday" is a different sentence — and it costs less than E-01 does to stay in Ras Al Khaimah.
