Why this is not the retail version
An indoor pitch is AED 350–500 an hour and most of the people in the room already know it, because a good number of them book one most weekends. So this is priced honestly as a logistics-and-format package, not as access.
What a Friday game does not have: umpires, a draw, a scoreboard and a plate competition. The failure mode of every self-organised office cricket match is the same one — four people who play club cricket dominate, everyone else fields for two hours, and the game is decided in the first twenty minutes. Eight-over timed matches with a seeded draw and a plate competition is what stops that, and it is the entire reason to pay for this rather than book a pitch.
The nets before the group stage are the inclusion policy. In a UAE office of forty, the split is rarely gentle: perhaps a dozen play regularly, and a dozen have never held a bat. Twenty-five minutes of coaching before anything is scored is what gets the second group onto the pitch at all.
The strategic argument is different from the rest of category E. Zipline, karting and kayaking are experiences we ask people to try. This is the sport a large share of the UAE's white-collar workforce grew up with, and a company that puts on a proper tournament — with a trophy that has the company's name on it — is speaking to its staff in a language most engagement events do not use. That is worth more than the day, and it is why this is the strongest annual-repeat candidate in the category.
